Can you really clean without bleach?

Germs in the kitchen – scary. Can I clean my countertops and cutting boards without using bleach? Actually, there is a natural way that doesn’t use bleach. What’s wrong with bleach anyway?Lysol Anti-bacterial Action Spray contains alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride – a pesticide. Chlorox Disinfecting Wipes have a different pesticide. Real heavy-duty chemicals. It seems like you have a choice between salmonella, etc. on one hand, and pesticides on the other.

If you don’t like those choices, try a one-two punch found by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to be more effective than any available cleaner at destroying bacteria: white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Don’t mix them together in one bottle though! Have two spray bottles and spray them undiluted one after the other in succession (any order) on the surface you want to clean. This and more info that I am going to post later are from a terrific book called Super Natural Home, by Beth Greer.
